A Bennington student has been named the inaugural recipient of the Community College of Vermont’s Legacy Scholarship.
Tiffany Dunican, 26, of Bennington, is currently studying visual arts at CCV’s Bennington campus. A resident of Bennington for about eight years, Dunican said she and her husband were motivated to focus on their educations after a family tragedy, and enrolled together at CCV. Dunican’s goal is to eventually attend Bennington College, and to do so without putting too much of a strain on her family’s finances.
“Paying for college is not possible for us,” said Dunican, “so I went and applied for as many scholarships as I could.”
Among those was the Legacy Scholarship, a $1,000 award open to all CCV degree students in good academic standing. The scholarship was, “created this year to honor faculty and staff members who have given much of their time and energy to the College throughout their careers and whose hard work has benefitted students and co-workers in substantial and meaningful ways,” according to a press release from the college.
