CCV-Brattleboro student Alicia Dana was one of 17 athletes chosen to represent the U.S. Nordic Adaptive Team in the IPC World Cup adaptive Nordic ski races in Telemark, WI and Minneapolis, MN from January 26-February 2, 2012. Competing skiers were single or double amputees, visually impaired, or (like Dana) athletes with spinal cord injuries. Dana placed well in all four events, which included one 12-kilometer race (7th place), two 5-kilometer races (7th and 9th place), and a sprint race (9th place). If she continues racing this well, she will have a good chance to compete in the Paralympics in Russia in 2014.
