MONTPELIER, Vt. — A new partnership between the Community College of Vermont (CCV) and Grow with Google provides Vermonters with a fast-tracked pathway to new career opportunities. CCV will offer the Google Project Management Certificate, an industry-recognized credential that prepares people to effectively coordinate projects for companies of all sizes. No experience is required to enroll.

CCV launched its offering of the Google Project Management Certificate in fall 2023. Ashley Fay was one of the first students to participate in the workshop. Fay is a project manager by trade, but it’s not what she studied during her bachelor’s program at Johnson State College (now Vermont State University). She said the workshop provided a great opportunity to upskill. “I recently took on a different position with my employer, and it really helped me to look at project management from a different perspective. Being able to see it from more of a formal project management experience was really good because it gave me ideas that I can apply in my new role…it was just beneficial all around for me.”

Kirstin Richardson also participated in the workshop last fall. She is enrolled in business and accounting programs at CCV, and says she learned valuable skills that can be applied to both future CCV classes as well as job opportunities. “One of my future goals is to start my own business, and this would help me plan and execute that,” Richardson said.

Designed and taught by Google employees, the certificate includes over 100 practice and graded assessments, quizzes, or writing assignments to ensure rigor and mastery. Those who complete the Google Project Management Certificate will qualify for over 100 hours of project management education that apply directly to requirements for globally-recognized PMI credentials, like the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification, at a discounted price.

To help connect graduates to jobs, they are also given access to an employer consortium of over 150 companies—including Deloitte, Ford, Verizon, Walmart, and Google—that considers them for relevant roles.

This spring, Vermonters are eligible to take the 15-week program tuition-free. The self-paced, non-credit workshop is a hands-on learning experience that prepares students for careers in the high-growth field of project management. Students will also have access to job search support. The workshop begins January 22. For more information and to apply, contact workforce@ccv.edu
