Community College of Vermont will graduate over 500 students in a ceremony at Norwich University on Saturday, at 2 p.m.
Students graduating include Megan Maxham, of Northfield, and Amanda Van Dien, of Rutland. Both overcame adversity early on in their working lives with the help of the college that helped them restart and reinvigorate their careers.
Maxham, 30, worked in different jobs after high school. Two and a half years ago, she said the company she worked for sent its jobs overseas. Maxham decided to enroll in the medical assisting program at CCV in the fall of 2015 and started classes in the spring of 2016. During her studies, she also worked with fellow students as a mentor and tutor and was recently inducted into the national honor society Phi Theta Kappa.
