- Faculty member Meta Strick’s artwork is currently on display in President Joyce Judy’s office at CCV-Montpelier. Strick also has paintings and sculptural art dolls on exhibit at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park in Seneca Falls, NY. This invitational exhibit went up in time for Convention Days weekend in July, the event which honors the first women’s rights convention held in 1848, and it runs until the end of September. Strick has been an instructor at CCV for over 30 years, teaching studio art, art history, Seminar in Educational Inquiry, and Prior Learning Assessment, primarily in St. Albans.
- Winooski Coordinator of Academic Services Marianne DiMascio appeared in the 500th episode of Stuck in Vermont, a video blog produced by Seven Days. When she’s not advising students at CCV, DiMascio also writes and produces sketch comedy with the group Stealing from Work.
- Faculty member Daniel Alcorn accepted a position as Program Manager for the B.S. in Management Studies degree program at Norwich University. Alcorn is currently employed at Norwich as Assistant Director of Enrollment Advising at the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies. At CCV, Alcorn teaches economics courses online.
- Director of Academic Technology Tony Harris attended the 7th Language Creation Conference in Alberta, Canada. Harris appeared in a conlanging documentary that was featured at the conference.
- Faculty member Paul D’Amboise had an opinion piece about teaching Quebec history published in the Montreal Gazette on July 17. D’Amboise teaches courses in history and geography in Winooski.
- Veteran and Military Resource Advisor Marty McMahon participated in a marathon reading of Moby Dick on August 4th and 5th at Arrowhead, Herman Melville’s home in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, where Melville wrote the classic novel. Moby Dick was a special focus of McMahon’s advanced graduate work.
- Coordinator of Academic Services Phil Crossman attended a Cartoon Studio workshop at the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction from June 26-30. The five-day intensive was an opportunity for students to develop their writing and drawing, create new comics, and receive feedback on their work. Check out his final project from the workshop. Crossman is an online coordinator and also teaches Introduction to the Philosophy of Ethics online.
- St. Johnsbury Coordinator of Academic Services Jenny Gundy performed in Anton Chekhov’s play Three Sisters at Unadilla Theater in Calais between July 27th and August 12th. Gundy played the role of the middle sister, Masha, and was joined on the cast by her (real-life) mother and sister!
- Several Winooski staff members helped promote CCV at the Vermont Lake Monsters’ July 17th game against the Hudson Valley Renegades. Coordinator of Academic Services Jarod Waite threw out the first pitch, and fellow Coordinator Kate Maynard and Director of Resource Development Aimee Stephenson joined him in staffing the information table.
- CCV-Rutland participated in a community-wide Art Walk on Friday, August 11. CCV showcased a mural that was created by students in Susannah Colby’s Color Theory class and installed in June, and students in this summer’s Middle Eastern Dance class gave a performance.
- July 29 was CCV night at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven. Staff from CCV-Rutland were there to cheer on the drivers, talk up CCV programs and opportunities, and dole out CCV gear.
