We’re on the countdown to the most important day of the year at CCV: commencement! We’ll celebrate the Class of 2018 on Saturday, June 2, at Norwich University.   • 34 CCVers walked and ran in the 35th annual Corporate Cup in Montpelier on May 17th. It was a beautiful evening for the annual 5k, which starts and ends at the State House. President Joyce Judy, Assistant Director of Financial Aid Mike Griffith, and Coordinator of Academic Services Ryan Joy’s running team “CC-Vroom” finished first in their division with a total time of 1:05:54!
  • CCV-Winooski faculty member Trevor Whipple was featured in The Other Paper on April 26th for earning a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Vermont Center for Crime Victim Services.
  • St. Johnsbury faculty member Don Mayer’s pen and ink drawings are part of the summer show at the Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery in Center Sandwich, NH. Mayer teaches Seminar in Educational Inquiry and will teach Introduction to Literature in the fall.
  • CCV founding president Peter Smith’s most recent book, Free-Range Learning in the Digital Age: The Emerging Revolution in College, Career, and Education, will be published June 5th by SelectBooks.
  • Winooski Coordinator of Academic Services Tuipate Mubiay graduated from the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program at UVM on May 7th. The graduate level program is offered through UVM’s Larner College of Medicine and focuses on maternal and child health with an emphasis on neurodevelopmental disabilities.
  • Bennington faculty member James Crews’s most recent book of poetry, Telling My Father, was reviewed in Seven Days and in the San Francisco Chronicle.
  • Students and staff at centers around the state participated in Green Up Day on Saturday, May 5th. Thanks to all who volunteered their time to clean up Vermont!
  • Winooski Coordinator of Academic Services Dave Amsden co-led “Immigration and Human Rights,” a discussion about immigration and refugees in the 21st century. The event took place on May 1st at CCV-Winooski and was part of UVM and the Vermont Humanities Council’s Public Philosophy Week.
  • Rutland faculty member Michael Kingsbury was part of a CBS documentary “The storytellers of Vermont,” which aired on April 23rd. Kingsbury teaches Rutland’s World of Comedy and Humor class.
  • Faculty member J.K. Durick’s poem “A Storm is Coming” was published in Leaves of Ink on May 9th. Durick teaches in Winooski.
  • Assistant Director of Academic Technology Sarah Corrow was recognized by Vermont’s North Country Chamber of Commerce at their annual luncheon on April 25th. Corrow served as president of the Chamber from 2014-2018, and was honored for her work in this role.
  • 106 CCV students were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for community college students, on May 11th. PTK recognizes students with a demonstrated commitment to academic integrity and excellence.
