When Levi Costa was a kid, he would sometimes visit his late father’s classroom at the University of Vermont. “He taught this class called ‘A Bug’s Life,’” says Costa. “It was all about the biology of bugs. [At that time] I thought college was cool…”

And on the stage, the CCV Class of 2016!
Thousands of proud, smiling faces filled Norwich University’s Shapiro Field House on Saturday, as more than 550 students from across the state received associate degrees.
CCV Grads Stayed On Target To Earn Degrees
Stay focused and never give up. Almost 600 CCV students were given that advice on Saturday when the College conferred associate degrees on members of the Class of 2015.
“Life, like so many valuable lessons, will not come easily or without its own set of challenges,” said student speaker Ashlee Brady-Kelly. “There may be times where it would be easier to succumb, than to thrive; to conquer. However I encourage you, no I beg you, please do not give up on yourself and never, never give up on your goals. It is in the most trying times that knowledge is gained and strength earned.”
As It Turns Out, College Really Does Change Lives
College will change your life. There’s a hackneyed phrase if ever there was one, but for CCV grads this year, there’s real truth behind that thought.
“The people at CCV gave me my life back, they gave me my identity back and there are no words of gratitude or actions that can be taken to make up for that,” said Ashlee Brady-Kelly. “I definitely plan to come back and visit and to help in any way I can.”
Community College of Vermont’s 47th Commencement Ceremony
It’s official: the graduates have made the walk, been handed their degrees, and flipped their tassels from left to right. But leading up to that moment, a fair amount was asked of the Class of 2014 on Saturday.
“I beg you, I beg you to stay in Vermont, live, work, raise a family in the best state of the fifty states, that’s my plea to you today,” Governor Peter Shumlin told the Class of 2014.
Countdown to Commencement
There’s nervousness. Pride. Joy. Anxiety. It’s like riding a big, rollercoaster of emotion and you’re just shy of the final loop-d-loop.
“I’m so content right now, things feel really good,” said Olivia Smith-Hammond. “I’m nervous, but I’m really trying to work on not fretting about the unknowns.”
Community College of Vermont 47th commencement will have record-high number of graduates
The Community College of Vermont will hold its 47th commencement ceremonies at Norwich University’s Shapiro Field House at 2:00 p.m. on June 7, 2014. For the second year in a row, CCV will be graduating a record-high number of students.
Record-high number graduates from CCV
They came from all 14 counties of Vermont, nine states and ten countries for this event. And it was an event they’d been looking forward to for years.
“It is truly a unique connection CCV has, being able to bring people from all corners of the state together to celebrate the achievements of the graduating class of 2013,” student speaker and Barre resident Karri Benoir told the audience on Saturday.
