CCV’s Medical Assisting Program Showing Results
For Kathryn Cox of South Ryegate, it’s been a big year.
Over the course of 2013 she completed two internships with Associates in Family Health in Berlin, she finished up her associate degree at CCV in August, landed a new job as a medical assistant with Dartmouth Primary Care, and in November she passed the American Association of Medical Assistants’ Certified Medical Assistant exam.
Community College of Vermont’s Medical Assisting Program Receives National Programmatic Accreditation
The Community College of Vermont’s Associate of Applied Science degree in Medical Assisting received national programmatic accreditation this week from the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). With this designation, CCV becomes the only institution located in Vermont to offer an accredited Medical Assisting program.

A Win-Win Healthcare Collaboration
As CCV explored ways to prepare students for careers that Vermont employers had identified as “fast growing,” the College approached Gifford Medical Center for feedback on a Medical Assisting degree.
CCV Launches Three New Degree Programs
Last fall CCV received a $2.5million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor that helped the College accelerate the development of three degree programs that will prepare students for careers in fields Vermont employers have identified as being high demand.
